A year ago, we became an accredited Living Wage Employer. It’s something we’re genuinely proud of – not as a badge we can stick on our website and write a social post about, but because it reflects how we actually try to run things day to day.
What is a Living Wage Employer?
A Living Wage Employer is one that pays people based on what it actually costs to live, not just the legal minimum. The rate is worked out independently and reviewed every year, so it keeps up with real life.
Why It Still Matters
The cost of living has risen at its fastest rate in 40 years, and we all know the pressure that comes with that. The real Living Wage reflects this, it’s based on what life actually costs, not just the legal minimum.
It means our team is paid in a way that keeps up with reality, and for us, it’s about sticking to that commitment.
What It Means for Our Team
Fair pay isn’t something we talk about to tick a box. It’s about making sure people are paid properly for the work they do, treated with respect, and have some stability outside of work as well.
“This isn’t a policy for us to check off. It’s a reflection of what we believe in – fairness, respect, and looking after our team.”
— Matt Coleman, Head of People
It’s only natural that when people feel secure, they’re able to do their best work.
One Year On
We’re proud of the team we’ve built and the way we work together. A year on, we’re still part of the Living Wage movement, and it’s something we’re committed to building on.
