Case study: bespoke WooCommerce development
Innergy Group Ltd are gas and gas equipment experts with over 40 years of experience in the liquefied petrol gas industry.

The brief
innergy came to us with an existing WordPress + WooCommerce website wanting technical fixes to some bespoke WooCommerce functionality, and some improvements to the performance of their site in line with SEO recommendations made by a third party agency.
After attempting a first round of fixes on the existing innergy website it became clear that the scope for fixing and improving the site was severely limited and as such we pitched a full redesign and rebuild.
innergy were keen to resolve the issues with their site, replace all clunky pagebuilder pages with optimised equivalents and give a solid base to build on going forwards.

What we did
Working with innergy to establish their requirements for a complete design and build, and utilising a trusted design partner, we created a simplified, modern WordPress website optimised for search engine performance and user experience.
The bespoke WordPress theme takes advantage of WordPress’ Gutenberg editor technology, allowing innergy to internally manage their content and pages.
The innergy e-commerce website works seemlessly across multiple devices at multiple resolutions utilising progressive enhacement where appropriate.

Challenges
One of the must-have elements for the innergy website was a custom-coded WooCommerce add-on restricting gas delivery at product level to a set of definable postcode areas.
In addition to the postcode restriction, “allowed” customers had to be presented with possible delivery agreements and disclaimers to agree to before they could proceed to the basket and/or checkout stage.
Numerous previous developers had attempted to implement this functionality and failed. Ultimately Better successfully delivered the required custom WooCommerce functionality to scope and within budget.

Client feedback
After a number of bad experiences with previous developers, we were recommended Jem and I can honestly say we have never looked back. Jem and her team share a great level of expertise and attention to detail, no request is ever too much and the team work hard to deliver within a reasonable budget and timescales. Our product shipping rules are quite complex, Jem and her team were able to develop custom Woocommerce functionality exactly as we required and it is working perfectly. We have seen great results organically, our ecommerce orders have increased as have the number of commercial leads we generate online. Highly recommended and I look forward to working with Ultimately Better on future projects.
